Nathan Young

Overview

Nathan Young is works across a range of practice areas with particular experience in Family Law.  His other practice areas include Civil Disputes, Criminal Law, Intervention Orders, Wills and Deceased Estates matters. Nathan has extensive experience as a solicitor-advocate, able to appear at court hearings particularly in Family Law, Criminal and Intervention Order matters.

Nathan, whose wife who grew up in Gippsland, relocated from Geelong to Traralgon in 2012 having obtaining a position with the former firm of D’Alessandro & Associates in Morwell.

Outside of the office, Nathan has a young family.  He is also involved as a leader in a local community based organisation in Traralgon and previously acted on the board of a Traralgon-based counselling centre.  Nathan also enjoys time spent in his garden and maintains his fitness through cycling.

Areas of expertise

Family Law

Nathan handles privately funded Family Law Work including Property, Children and Maintenance matters. His experience with Intervention Order matters and ability to appear at the local courts for such is a benefit, as these often tie into family law disputes.

Nathan also handles property matters in connection with Family Law matters, such as transfers of property between spouses, and so can assist our clients to complete their family law matters including conveyancing all within our practice.

Wills and Deceased Estates

Nathan prepares a range of Wills (and powers of attorney documentation) that are appropriate for a wide range of clients and their particular situations.

Nathan’s expertise in Family Law allows him to provide specific advice on aspects of overlap between breakdown of relationships and the implications such can have on estate planning matters. His familiarity with Family Trusts, Testamentary Trusts, and other estate planning considerations allows him to ensure various matters are considered, if necessary, when giving estate planning advice. 

Littleton Hackford has a productive Deceased Estate Department to assist clients when a client’s relative or friend has passed away. Nathan, along with David, Caitlin, and Veronica, oversee estate files.

Criminal Law

Nathan handles privately funded Criminal Law Work, particularly Magistrate Court matters. He has previously handled, and worked with barristers upon, a range of both straightforward and complex criminal matters including serious crimes in the County Court. As mentioned, he can appear personally at Court where necessary.

Achievements

Nathan graduated from Deakin University in Geelong with a Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Law (Honours).  He was admitted to the Supreme Court of Victoria in 2012 after obtaining his Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice at the College of Law Melbourne. Nathan undertook experience positions at two prominent firms in Geelong and also at the Transport Accident Commission before relocating to Gippsland.
